Many households take time out in summer to hit the road with tents or RVs and camping gear to see a little bit of nature.  Why is camping out so attractive in a society that is so focused on scientific advancement?

One of the most apparent answers to this question is that camping out is a traditional national pastime. Youngsters are raised going on camping trips with their whole family, many households hold family reunions camping. A camping trip is an excellent time for fathers to bond with their sons.  When we grow up, we always tend to look back fondly on our childhood memories of going camping.  You can’t recall what you had for lunch at work yesterday but you will have many outstanding memories of your first camping trip.  We have thoughts of looking up into the night sky for the first time, unpolluted by the city lights.  The piece and quiet of camping out can bring a family together as they share things that have been unsaid in the busyness of life.

Around campfires parents share stories of their childhood and pass down their own ideas and thoughts on life, the outdoors, and the nature of the universe.  When families go camping out the next generation learns lessons from the last one and so life’s examples are passed on through the camping out experience.  It seems only normal when we grow up that we take our kids camping during the summer just as our moms and dads did with us.  New technology comes as life progresses, and along with that comes new movements and new fashion that keeps kids interested in the nature surrounding this new innovation.  A camping  excursion puts family members on an equal footing.  In this away-from-home environment, family members can interact with each other in fresh ways.

Camping appeals to individuals because it takes us back to our shared origins in the early history of mankind.  There is a void in the human soul that can only be filled by nature, no matter how numerous conquests we make in the business, political, and technological world.  Camping doesn’t fit in with a busy city and it is a way to connect with a part of ourselves.  Camping allows you a special feeling of oneness with nature.  We are given a opportunity to reflect on our life-time when considering that the land is the same as which our forefathers fought hard for and understanding that the same land will outlast us.

When in the city, it easy to miss a thing like nature.  Everybody is rushing around stressed trying to pay the bills and accomplish higher levels of success.  Camping life juxtaposed to city life is quite a contrast and a enjoyable one at that.

Camping out is so much fun that it will become a family tradition that everyone will want to repeat annually for years to come.  Even if you don’t truly like to camp out you probably agree that it can be an inspiring experience.  While the world around us may change, camping will always remain a much loved experience.
